You may think that this is just your typical everyday router, but we can assure you that this enterprise class router is full of features, complete with a set of custom extensions, all placed inside the sturdiest piece of industrial grade hardware we could find.

Full-Featured Edge Router

While we boast that the RBA is more than just a router, we want you to know that it is a full-featured edge router.  The RBA supports dynamic and static addressing, firewall, DHCP, NAT/PAT, DNS, VLAN, and QoS.  The RBA is a desktop network communication appliance which is built on Intel® Pineview™ embedded processor, the next generation in the Intel ® Atom™ family.

Space-Saving Design

When space matters and installing cumbersome equipment is not an option, Acceleration Systems’ RBA fits the bill perfectly.  These sleek platforms can be deployed anywhere: SOHO, business, industrial and remote environments. The RBA can be implemented virtually anywhere due to its sleek design measuring only 268 x 40 x 145 mm. Its design offers cost savings and flexibility while maintaining the high throughput and availability required for network security, network applications, and acceleration. Don’t let the size fool you though.  The RBA may be small and compact, but it’s tough, durable, and dependable.

Using our RBA is worry free.  There’s no need to worry about configuring it to your network as it ships to your location preconfigured to the specifications of your network.  Should an administrator need to adjust the RBA further, our intuitive and easy to use GUI makes additional customization a breeze, or our helpful Acceleration Systems team of engineers can implement additional configurations remotely.

We highly recommend saving the old configuration before implementing a new configuration.  Our smart technology can save up to 30 different configurations on the RBA, while also backing up configurations to the Acceleration Systems’ cloud.  Your administrators can implement previous configurations at any time.

Manufactured completely with RoHS compliant parts and production processes, the RBA provides a low power platform for network applications. Fanless Platform

The corrugated aluminum casing allows heat to dissipate off the top of the platform allowing for a worry-free fanless design. The RBA’s rugged design not only provides great protection from EMI, EDS, shock/vibration, cold and heat, but also passive cooling for quiet fanless operation, ideal for dusty, dirty, environmentally challenging deployments.

Full-Featured Firewall
Our firewall feature enjoys a well-earned reputation as one of the highest quality and customizable firewalls in production. It has successfully replaced every big name commercial firewall (Check Point, Cisco PIX, Cisco ASA, Juniper, SonicWALL, NETGEAR, WatchGuard, Astaro, and more) in installations around the world.

  1. Filtering by source and destination IP, IP protocol, source and destination port for TCP and UDP traffic
  2. Option to log or not log traffic matching each rule
  3. State Table keeps track of the state of network connections (such as TCP streams or UDP communication) and holds significant attributes of each connection in memory
  4. Limitations on a per-rule basis (simultaneous client connections, states per host, new connections per second, state timeout, state type)
  5. Optimized for “high-latency” links

Network Address Translation
NAT allows administrators to route external Public IPs to designated LAN IPs and vice versa giving them the capability to control traffic flow.

  1. Port forwards including ranges and the use of multiple public IPs
  2. 1:1 NAT for individual IPs or entire subnets
  3. Default NAT settings allow all outbound traffic to translate to the WAN IP. In multiple WAN scenarios, administrators can define NAT settings for outbound traffic to the IP of their choice.
  4. Advanced Outbound NAT allows default behavior to be disabled, allowing the creation of very flexible NAT (or no NAT) rules
  5. NAT Reflection – NAT reflection is possible so services can be accessed by public IP from internal networks

High Availability*
High Availability (HA) has become a standard in mission critical environments. Multiple WAN connections provide redundancy in case an Internet connections fails.

  1. Two RBAs in a VRRP style configuration (using CARP) with automatic removal from pool on health check fail

The RBA meets a strict standard of compliances and certifications, including CE, FCC Class A, UL, and RoHS.


All electronics are protected in a compact sealed rugged case for easy installation in customers’ computer facilities.  The RBA can also be used as a stand-alone appliance situated in your lab or offices where space is limited. Fanless design is suitable for harsh environments. The RBA can be used as a standalone system, rack mounted or desktop mounted.

RBA Tabletop Mounting

To mount the RBA on the table, use the screws and rubber feet in the tabletop mounting screw pack. Follow the following procedures as a guideline:

  1. Place the rubber feet on the mounting hole at the bottom of the RBA and fix it firmly by using the screws provided.
  2. Place the RBA on the table with the rubber feet standing on top of the table.

Installation environment precaution:

  1. Elevated Operating Ambient – If installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the operating ambient temperature of the rack environment may be greater than room ambient. Therefore, consideration should be given to installing the equipment in an environment compatible with the maximum ambient temperature (Tma) specified by the manufacturer.
  2. Reduced Air Flow – Installation of the equipment in a rack should be such that the amount of air flow required for safe operation of the equipment is not compromised.
  3. Mechanical Loading – Mounting of the equipment in the rack should be such that a hazardous condition is not achieved due to uneven mechanical loading.
  4. Circuit Overloading – Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuit and the effect that overloading of the circuits might have on over-current protection and supply wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be used when addressing this concern.
  5. Reliable Earthing – Reliable earthing of rackmounted equipment should be maintained. Particular attention should be given to supply connections other than direct connections to the branch circuit (e.g. use of power strips).

CAUTION : Rail/rack mounted equipment is not to be used as a shelf or a work space.

To mount the RBA onto the rack, use the mounting kit with the screw pack. Follow the following procedures as a guideline:

  1. Place the RBA on the rack mounting bracket and fix it to the bracket by using the flat head screws in the screw pack.
  2. Place the power adaptor in the adaptor slot and attach the cable holder (with threaded oval-head screws) provided to the rack mounting bracket. Make sure that the power adaptor socket is not blocked by the aligning holder in the front.
  3. You could use the cable holder to hold your cable to prevent it from tangling as shown in the picture below.

Note: Bracket mounting screws for mounting the bracket onto the rack equipment are not included. Use screws appropriate for your rack/rails. The original screw pack is for fixing system on the bracket.
